Polished stones are easy to like. Rough stone is the one people pick up and turn over, because you can see what it actually is.

Rough Rainbow Moonstone on a black stand

This is Rainbow Moonstone in its natural state, milky white through to grey with dark inclusions running through the matrix, set on a slim black metal stand so it stands upright rather than lying flat in a bowl.

Every piece is different in shape, size and the way the dark runs through it. Some are thin and almost sail shaped, some are round and chunky. I choose yours intuitively. The photographs show the style rather than the exact stone.

Rainbow Moonstone belongs to the same feldspar family as the Moonstone chips set into my Maeve candle. Traditionally, Moonstone is known as the stone of balance, intuition and new cycles.

Each piece stands roughly 9cm high on its stand and is 5 to 6cm across. Sizes vary a little from stone to stone.
